Hoa Lu – Tam Coc – Cuc Phuong National Park 2D/1N

Located in Ninh Binh province 100 km southeast of Hanoi, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc are two of the most picturesque spots in all of the north. For 41 years, from 968 to 1009 CE, Hoa Lu was the ancient capital of Vietnam. Nearby Tam Coc is often referred to as “Ha Long among the rice paddies.” Visitors are conveyed by rowboat along the peaceful Tam Coc stream past green fields and the feet of mountains into the mouths of caves. Cuc Phuong is famous for its rich animal and plant life and the dozens of ancient caves that can be found within the forest. The most interesting cave is, perhaps, Nguoi Xua (the cave of Ancient man) where prehistoric stone – made tools have been found. Cuc Phuong National Park boasts some 2,000 distinct species of flora, including more than 50 varieties of orchids and giant impressive trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old. There are also 262 species of animals including reptiles, monkeys, flying squirrels and even wild horses make their home in park.

Recognied in 1962 as National Park, Cuc Phuong is now the biggest and the most diverse park in Viet Nam with a variety of rare fauna and flora in limestone mountain forest. The Endangered Primates Rescued Centre in the park is an interesting place with many kinds of rare primates such as Langur, Gibbon and Loris all over Vietnam.Many of them are under threat of extinction.
The trip also offers you an opportunity to learn about Vietnamese history by visiting the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu and see a beautiful countryside of Viet Nam by a boat Sampan.

(Day 01): Ha Noi- Hoa Lư- Tam Coc ( L/D).

7:45 – 8:30 Tour guide pick you up at Hotel then depart for ancient citadel of  Hao Lu ( 90km south of Ha Noi).


11:00 Visit temples dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang (923- 979) and Le Dai Hanh ( 941 – 1005).
Tour guide give you an introduction of Vietnam History in 10th century.

12:00 continue bus drive to Tam Coc for luch. On the way take pictures of villages and the stunning landscapes.

13:30 Board and sampans to visit Tam Coc ( Three caves). The boat trip through enormous limestone karsts jutting out from the green rice fields leave you a good memory.

15:30 Finishing 2 hours on sampan check in hotel. Relax in hotel after long day of activity.

17:00 Dinnner at your hotel and stay overnight in Tam Coc.

19:00 Have dinner in hotel restaurant and free time at night to discover Cat Ba town.

Day 02 : Tam Coc- Cuc Phuong – Ha Noi.( B/L)

7:45 – 8:30 Tour guide pick you up at Hotel then depart for ancient citadel of  Hao Lu ( 90km south of Ha Noi).

7:00 Enjoy morning tea / coffee the have breakfast at hotel.

7:40 Depart to Cuc Phuong National Park, photographing spectacular views through countryside road.

11:30 Enjoy a local  style Vietnamese lunch at the National Park Headquarters.

12:30 Spend hour trekking through jungle, you witness a giant tree of thousands yours old named Cho Chi.

14:30 Get a bus transfer back to Tam Coc and join the other group back to Hanoi.

18:00 Arrival in Ha Noi. Tour ends.

You can drive around this national park on a motorbike (semi automatic was fine) and see some stunning scenery and French ruins. Very few tourists around, we went on a Friday and had the whole place to ourselves.
